Beadle
I build web applications, mostly Django on the back end and whatever the front end needs.
Day to day that means improving the product at StopSuite, and building the in-house tools that keep Compost Nashville running. I take on freelance work alongside both.

About
I work across two companies. At StopSuite I'm a developer on the product itself. At Compost Nashville I'm the tech and finance side of the business, which in practice means building the in-house software that makes the company run more efficiently, and understanding the numbers well enough to know what's worth building.
Working both ends like that is the part I enjoy: being close enough to the business to see where the friction actually is, and able to go build the thing that removes it.
Outside of work I'm a dad and husband to an amazing family. I love to dance, play my fiddle, and get outdoors when the time permits.
I'm also available for freelance work. If you have something that needs building, I'd like to hear about it.

What I'm into
-
Backend craft
Even though AI has changed the way code is written, I still like to make sure I'm authoring code that is both functional and beautiful.
-
Business-shaped software
Tools built by someone who knows what the numbers are actually for.
-
Self-hosting
I like to self-host as often as possible. It gives me control and security while reducing costs.
-
Small and fast
Shipping the least code that does the job, then keeping it that way.
